RECYCLING (304-429-3261): > Accepts paper/ cardboard for recycling. Provides e-recycling services > Accepts all non-working or outdated computers and components, printers, scanners or fax machines and cell phones. Wipes computer memory clean. Refurbishes equipment when possible. EMPLOYMENT & TRAINING SERVICES (304-523-7461): > Rehabilitation Assessment: Matches worker qualification profiles with possible job opportunities as well as recommendations for future vocational or educational training. (For person who have had little or no work experience, displaced or injured workers and persons with disabilities. Referrals can come from Dept. of Rehabilitation Services, VA, private rehab counselors, insurance companies, community agencies, social service systems. > Veterans' Services: Includes evaluation and vocational counseling. > Work Adjustment Training: Paid work experience and training providing participants with a work history, employability and work maturity skills. > Counseling/ case management > Work experience > Job Placement Services: Job search assistance. > Supported Employment Program: Job placement for severely disabled persons who require job coaching. > Pre-employment services: vocational evaluations, vocational counseling > Basic skills and job readiness classes > Post-employment follow-up. > Skills training, see below. > B.E.S.T. Improves job seeking skills, academic skills, marketable job skills, and job readiness. Cost: Mental health services/consumer credit counseling fees on a sliding scale. Fee for adult sexual offender support group. Eligibility: Tri-state area. Speakers bureau: Provides speakers for community. Mental Health Services ( 304-523-9454, FAX 304-523-7060): > Counseling - Individual, family, couples and group counseling for educational problems, delinquent behavior, interpersonal relationships, divorce and grief adjustment, child abuse, depression, sexual /physical abuse, and parenting skills. > Parenting Classes: Teaches parenting techniques, how to understand children, and communication skills. Can provide parenting education to meet a court order requirement. Some class series offered free for parents meeting eligibility guidelines. > Psychological testing. > Support & Therapy Groups: Abuse support (therapy groups) for non-offending parents, teens, victims of physical and sexual abuse. Sexual offenders groups for adults and adolescents. Batterers support group for offending individuals (usually court-ordered) Periodic anger management program. Consumer Credit Counseling Division (304-522-4321): Location: 1102 Memorial Blvd., W., Huntington, WV 25701 Services: > Provides budget preparation, money management, debt reduction program for persons of all income levels. > Offers educational programs on money management and wise use of credit. > Provides pre-purchase home buyer education > Provides foreclosure prevention assistance > Can advise regarding medical debt problems > Public education program available upon request > Provides credit report for a fee > Can provide advice on how to deal with credit report problems caused by stolen identity. GOODGUIDES YOUTH MENTORING (304-522-3624): 1448 Tenth Ave., Huntington, WV 25701 Serves youth 12-17 yrs. who have committed delinquent acts or are at risk for delinquent behavior. Matches youths to mentors who have been screened, trained, and are committed to a one year mentoring relationship. RECYCLING AND SHREDDING/DESTRUCTION OF CONFIDENTIAL DOCUMENTS (304-429-3261): Accepts magazines, phone books, junk mail, newspapers donations accepted free. Provides shredding services to businesses who no longer need to retain hardcopy. Secure shredding of confidential documents meeting industry standards. Free pickup with minimum of 5 boxes. Paper is recycled after shredding. Fee charged/box. STADIUM CLEANUP (304-429-3261): Pays $6/hr. Anyone may apply at 1102 Memorial Blvd., Huntington. Must have 2 IDs, one with photo and have been applied prior to the day of the game. Must be at the sports arena 3 1/2 hours after a game begins. May work one weekend or the entire football/basketball season. Checks issued biweekly. VOLUNTEERISM: Accepts donations of used items, but no longer can pick up donated items. |
