Description: FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Screened by the South-Atlantic Patient Resource Center (800-ACS-2345) Must meet eligibility guidelines 250% FPL. Financial cap on assistance.
> Pain and anti-nausea medication for "approved medications" limited assistance.
> Transportation fund for chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, or bone marrow transplant treatment. (Not for wheelchair vans or ambulances)
> Special, one-time assistance for items related to cancer, as available.
> Referrals to appropriate agencies

MEDICAL APPLIANCES AND SUPPLIES:
Local resource closet of new or sanitized bras, prosthesises, wigs and turbans.

LOOK GOOD - FEEL BETTER:
Personal appearance improvement course, with cosmetic supplies provided. Wigs and turbans provided for those meeting eligibility guidelines.

EDUCATION: Programs for professionals and the public. On-line offering of "I Can Cope" educational program for patients and those close to them.
> Employee wellness programs: "Active for Life" . Free to any employer who requests.

CAMPS: Summer camp for children who have/or have had cancer, ages 7-16 years.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
Uses volunteers for a variety of activities.

SUPPORT GROUPS
> Lost Chord - Laryngectomey Support Group
For patients and families, meeting every two months and drawing membership
from a large geographical area. Provides support, education, speakers, social activities. Pre-surgical counseling. Works closely with doctors. Lends recovering patients electrolarynx devices. Dues $4/yr. First year membership is free.

> Reach to Recovery - Breast Cancer Support
Provides one-on-one support by trained volunteers who are recovering masectomy patients. Provides free special prothesis, exercise equipment and exercise instructions. Tries to match up age of volunteer and patient.

TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE: Limited assistance with long-distance travel for a scheduled cancer-related treatment.

ROAD TO RECOVERY: National program, providing free transportation assistance to and from treatment facilities. Coordinated by the National office, 800-227-2345.

HOPE LODGE: National program providing a nurturing, home-like environment for free, temporary accommodations for cancer patients (undergoing treatment) and their families.
Physician referrals required.
