| Description: | "Hospice care is provided for people who have any type of end-stage heart, lung, kidney and/or liver disease, Parkinson's, stroke, Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS), emphysema, Altzheimer's, and AIDS. Often, a patient may not have just one diagnosis that is end-stage, but may have multiple diagnoses that create a life-limiting condition." PROFESSIONAL SERVICES PROVIDERS: > Nursing care by registered nurses > Medical social services > Certified nursing assistants > Hospice medical directors EMOGENE DOLIN JONES HOSPICE HOUSE (304-781-8400): 3100 Staunton Rd., Huntington 25702 Short-term, inpatient facility for 14 terminally ill patients needing pain control and symptom management as well as respite care for their caregivers. Also appropriate for persons coming out of a nursing home or hospital. See separate listing of this in Agency. IN-HOME SERVICES: Note: Persons in the home provide direct care. Hospice staff and volunteers assist family in providing care for terminally ill patient at home with periodic visits. Doctor's participation required. > Pain and symptom management > Emotional support > Bereavement care > Medical supplies and equipment for comfort measures FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: May be able to provide medication and medical supplies/equipment at a free or reduced rate for individuals meeting income eligibility guidelines TRANSPORTATION: Makes arrangements for ambulance transport if needed for patient to visit the hospital. EDUCATION: > Life skills classes for survivors (finances, taxes, living within your means, car maintenance, cooking for one, etc.) BEREAVEMENT SERVICES: > Bereavement counseling by appointment > Bereavement follow-up for one year Childrens Services: > Monthly Children's Support Group > Camp Good Grief: Free, bereavement support camp for children ages 8-16, who are experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one. Transportation provided, if needed.
