| Eligibility: | Have a condition that meets the definition of "catastrophic illness" and have exhausted all other resources including Medicaid and Hill-Burton Funds, etc. (can not be eligible for Medicaid). Involvement from the medical facility is preferred. |
| Description: | The James "Tiger" Morton Catastrophic Illness Commission was created 1999 by the WV Legislature. It acts as a last resort for those in dire need of medical assistance once all other resources are exhausted. A Medicaid application is required and all services must be preauthorized through the Director. SERVICES: Distribution of funds for: > Proven and accepted medical procedures > Limited housing for the approved medical procedure > Medication that prevents rejection and/or reoccurrence of life threatening illness NON-COVERED EXPENSES: > Maintenance for acute prescriptions > Durable medical equipment > Experimental treatments, procedures or therapies > Past due medical bills VOLUNTEERISM: Accepts tax deductible contributions. |
