| Eligibility: | WV residents and seniors on fixed incomes with proof income 150% FPL. Adults 18-61 yrs. must have paid at least $100 toward utility account within past 90 days. Adults 62 yrs.+, must have paid $75 dollars within past 90 days. See Narrative below. |
| Description: | Dollar Energy Fund, Inc. is a non-profit agency, which has teamed with: Allegheny Power (PA & WV) 23 Years American Electric Power (WV) 2 Years Citizen's Electric Company 11 Years Columbia Gas 26 Years Dominion Hope 2 Years Equitable Gas (PA & WV) 23 Years Mountaineer Gas 2 Years Peoples Natural Gas 26 Years West Virginia American Water 2 Years and other companies to launch an energy and utility assistance program. Funds for this assistance come from private donations by utility customers. Operates in several states. ELIGIBILITY: Must take to screening agency: > Valid, current government issued identification card > A copy of most recent utility bill, including utility account number > Proof of all payments made in the last 90 days > Proof of income for everyone in household (for the past 30 days, normally. However, if a person has a projected higher income for the next 30 days, it is advisable to get that info in writing.) > Active termination notice or broken agreement letter or proof his/her utility service is disconnected > Names of everyone in household > Birthdates of everyone in household > Social Security Numbers for everyone in household (note: must have something official from the Social Security Administration for the bill-holder. Other SS#'s can be verified from a DHHR printout.) WEST VIRGINIA UTILITY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: Services: Provides comprehensive utility assistance to low-income West Virginians meeting eligibility guidelines. Procedure: Contact Salvation Army closest to residence for details. In Wayne and Cabell Co., I&R is the agency providing initial screening for Salvation Army. |
